Congratulations to the 2015 award winner:
Mr. Retief (Rick) Coetzer
…light only reveals its secrets to those who pursue it diligently and without end.
Rick uses this quote in his essay. Perhaps it is original, and after learning of Rick’s background, we wonder if he feels more deeply about this statement than is easily understood. A South African by birth, Rick joined the UK British Armed Forces and spent eight years serving with tours in Afghanistan and Cyprus. Both are places which we imagine could render special feelings for the meaning of the word “light.” One, perhaps in terms of hope for the future, the other in the presence of beauty after departing a war-torn land. Regardless, he returned to his home in South Africa with a deep passion for success through dedication and hard work, qualities we deem essential for the award.
Soon to be married and with dreams of his own lighting design studio unfolding, we could not think of a more qualified individual. Congratulations, Rick! Continue to pursue your dreams, and may this license of AGi32 help you get there!
