Congratulations to the 2009 award winner:
Ms. Leslie Davis LC, EIT, MIES, Assoc. IALD, Principal, Leslie Davis Lighting Design
The 2009 Loch Award winner is a self professed “old girl looking for a new lease on her career.” However, I will speculate that Leslie Davis is fully capable of writing her own ticket towards any position she might desire in our industry. You see, I know her personally – yet only from a distance for the last 30 years. Leslie and I studied lighting under Ron Helms at the University of Colorado in the late seventies. She was always the one with all the answers, while I was usually the one looking for them… I have been aware of Leslie’s numerous accomplishments in the lighting industry as our careers evolved in parallel. It was then a pleasant surprise that I found her entry for this year’s Charles Loch Award in my email inbox. (Before anyone screams BIAS, I am only one vote from the panel of judges, the AGi32 development team of nine, and there were votes cast for several other worthy entries).
Leslie’s credentials are impressive:
“During my career I have worn the hat of Electrical Consultant, Applications Engineering Manager, Marketing Manager and Lighting Design/Consultant all the while participating in teaching lighting classes through Universities, Colleges and the IES (for which you have generously supplied support materials and I used to use Charlie’s LD+A information as well). I have been active in the IES and IALD on multiple committees both locally and nationally. I am currently the President Elect of the IES San Francisco Section”.
When Leslie’s career was interrupted by a recent illness, she elected to consolidate her energies and strive for the satisfaction of running her own design firm. I have no doubt she can find that perfect balance we all strive for.We are extremely pleased to award Leslie Davis the 2009 Charles Loch Memorial Award and wish her the best of success as she moves forward!
Until Leslie is established, you can contact her through Lighting Analysts.
