Radiosity rendering

AGi32 Radiosity Based Rendering

AGi32 is a wonderfully interactive, radiosity based, rendering program that can be used to generate fast and compelling interactive environments depicting the behavior of light. Only radiosity-based rendering can offer a completely interactive rendered model to perform live walk-thru’s for clients and colleagues. Most projects render quickly enough for iterative design as designers now have the ability to quickly visualize and share different lighting scenarios before they are specified, purchased and installed.

AGi32 also provides the capability to ray trace user specified views within the rendered environment after the radiosity calculation is complete. Ray tracing will provide extremely crisp shadows and show specular surfaces such as tile, mirror, glass to make your presentation images more lifelike.

Ray traced rendering

In the images above you may have to look closely to see the differences. Using the Radiosity image as the baseline, examine the ray trace and notice the reflection in the mirror above the table, crisp shadow lines from the suspended artwork, more accurate scalloping from the downlights on the walls and subtle specular reflections of the downlight luminance in the glass partitions and floor. These things all add up to make a more realistic image. However, it comes at a serious price: time. Remember, we can interact with a radiosity-based rendering and look at any viewpoint whereas each ray traced image must be rendered individually.
